Unter dem Titel „Von der Transformation zur Europäischen Integration – 25 Jahre Wirtschaftsentwicklung in den Neuen Ländern“ hat das Leibniz-Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung Halle (IWH) gemeinsam mit Partnern aus Universitäten in Mitteldeutschland am 18. Februar 2015 Forschungsergebnisse zu 25 Jahren Wirtschaftsentwicklung in den Neuen Ländern vorgestellt. Die Tagung wurde mit einem Vortrag des Ministers für Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt, Hartmut Möllring, zum Thema „Ein Vierteljahrhundert des wirtschaftlichen Aufbaus in Sachsen-Anhalt: Erreichtes und künftige wirtschaftspolitische Herausforderungen“ eröffnet. Anschließend stellte Prof. Dr. Steffen Müller, Leiter der Abteilung Strukturwandel und Produktivität am IWH, die neue Forschungsagenda seiner Abteilung vor, die die Konsequenzen des strukturellen Wandels zum Gegenstand hat. Die darauffolgenden Vorträge befassten sich, bezogen auf die Neuen Länder, mit Fragen des Produktivitätsrückstands (Referent: Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Paqué, Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg), dem Innovationssystem (Referent: Prof. Dr. Michael Fritsch, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena), dem Gründungsgeschehen in Sachsen-Anhalt (Referentin: Prof. Dr. Claudia Becker, Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg) sowie mit der Einkommenskonvergenz (Referent: Prof. Dr. Thomas Steger, Universität Leipzig). Einen Höhepunkt der Tagung bildete ein Podiumsgespräch zum Thema „Aufbau Ost – mittendrin oder abgeschlossen?“, an dem Rudolf Bohn, Staatssekretär a. D., Dr. Thomas Brockmeier, Hauptgeschäftsführer der IHK Halle-Dessau, Prof. Reint E. Gropp, Ph.D., Präsident des IWH, Dr. Klaus-Heiner Röhl, Hauptstadtbüro des iw Köln, Stefan Weber, Vorsitzender des Vorstands der Sächsischen Aufbaubank sowie Petra Wicher, Geschäftsführerin der Ultraschalltechnik Halle GmbH, teilnahmen.
