How does the IWH help me with my research?

A dissertation is, of course, first and foremost an individual endeavour which, in addition to the purely intellectual demands, also requires a good deal of entrepreneurial spirit and initiative. What is special about the IWH-DPE is that the institutional framework of the programme and the IWH allows us to bundle, catalyse and strengthen this individual energy of each individual.

In addition to excellent supervision, high-quality equipment and the opportunity to participate in conferences, the IWH offers doctoral students further valuable opportunities in the field of economics.

Firstly, the doctoral students are integrated into the Institute's staff. This enables them to take part in Institute events such as fly-ins or guest lectures. The international faculty is available to doctoral students for counselling so that they can benefit from a broad network and diverse perspectives.

Secondly, doctoral students have the opportunity to present their research at the institute. This usually takes place in so-called brown bag seminars. These seminars provide a platform to scrutinise, defend and enrich their own research approach by receiving valuable feedback from colleagues.

IWH is the right place for anyone who wants to take advantage of these networking opportunities and actively address their colleagues. The IWH has an open-door policy and flat hierarchies that promote exchange and collaboration.
