Policy Talk mit Jörg Dittrich

Jörg Dittrich (Präsident des Zentralverbands des Deutschen Handwerks) wird am 19. September bei uns zu Gast sein und zum Thema „Bürokratieabbau und Gleichwertigkeit der beruflichen Bildung – Von der Notwendigkeit einer Politik für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen“ sprechen. An seinen Vortrag schließt sich eine Diskussion mit IWH-Präsident Reint E. Gropp an. Im Anschluss gibt es Gelegenheit für Publikumsfragen.

Demographic Aging and the New Keynesian Phillips Curve

I document a statistical link between old-age dependency ratios and average markups. I propose that a mechanism whereby households develop deep habits in consumption as they age could explain this feature of the data.

Labor Market Collusion through Common Leadership

We study an alleged scheme involving more than fifty tech companies’ “no-poach” agreements. These are illegal agreements to suppress labor market competition by ceasing to recruit one an- other’s workers. We study entry into these agreements and their effects on workers.
