Firm Surveys
Since 1993, IWH has conducted regular surveys among a fixed group of firms in the manufacturing and construction industry to collect individual data on economic activity. Until 2012, the surveys were carried out on a monthly basis with the construction and the manufacturing industry taking turns.
Since 2013, both surveys are conducted quarterly. They are based on a rotating panel of about 400 companies in each industry. The response rate is approximately 75%.
The results are published regularly (every month until 2012, quarterly since 2013) as reports, including figures and standard table as press releases and in the IWH publication "Wirtschaft im Wandel".

Abstract
Die Unternehmen des ostdeutschen Verarbeitenden Gewerbes beurteilen ihre derzeitige Lage sehr optimistisch. Die Lageeinschätzungen der Hersteller von Vorleistungsgütern für die Industrie sind deutlich optimistischer als die der Unternehmen, die als Zulieferer eng an die Baukonjunktur gekoppelt sind.
