Abstract
Der Aufsatz analysiert und prognostiziert die konjunkturelle Entwicklung in Deutschland in ausführlicher Form für das laufende Jahr 1996 und das Folgejahr 1997. Die Konjunktur in Deutschland hat sich nach der Wachstumsdelle im Winterhalbjahr 1995/1996 wieder belebt. Aus der Schwächephase herausgeführt wurde die deutsche Wirtschaft im ersten Halbjahr 1996 vor allem durch den privaten Konsum. Der konjunkturelle Aufschwung wird jedoch von der weiter schwachen Investitionstätigkeit gebremst. Da es kaum Anzeichen für eine Selbstverstärkung der Wachstumskräfte gibt, wird für 1997 lediglich eine Zunahme des realen Bruttoinlandsprodukts von 1,7 % erwartet.

Abstract
Seit 1991 war eine starke Erhöhung der Förderkreditnachfrage der gewerblichen Wirt-schaft Deutschlands zu verzeichnen. Dabei nahm die Nachfrage für Investitionszwecke in umweltgesetzlich weitgehend regulierten Schutzbereichen stärker zu als in schwach oder nicht regulierten Bereichen. Weil vorsorgende Maßnahmen nicht umweltgesetzlich vorgeschrieben sind, deutet diese Entwicklung auf die wachsende Bedeutung vorsor-gender (integrierter) Umweltschutzinvestitionen in den Unternehmen hin.

Abstract
Der Beitrag fasst die Ergebnisse einer Studie der vier Wirtschaftsforschungsinstitute DIW, Ifo, IWH und RWI zusammen, in der die Beschäftigungswirkungen des Umweltschutzes im Auftrag des Bundesumweltministeriums ermittelt wurden. Danach waren im Jahr 1994 in Deutschland etwa 956.000 Personen durch den Umweltschutz beschäftigt. Für Ostdeutschland wurde die Umweltbeschäftigung erstmals systematisch ermittelt. Hier waren vor allem Arbeitsbeschaffungsmaßnahmen quantitativ bedeutsam.

Abstract
Der Aufsatz analysiert und prognostiziert die konjunkturelle Entwicklung in Deutschland in ausführlicher Form für das laufende Jahr 1995 und das Folgejahr 1996. Der Dämpfer, den der konjunkturelle Auftrieb schon zu Beginn des Jahres 1995 durch die gestiegene Abgabenbelastung der privaten Haushalte erhalten hat, konnte durch die zunächst noch kräftige Nachfrage aus dem Ausland und das Wachstum der Ausrüstungs- und Bauinvestitionen weitgehend wettgemacht werden. Spätestens ab Herbst wird jedoch das Wachstum der Auslandsnachfrage aufgrund der sich verfestigenden Aufwertung der Mark nachlassen. Das Tempo der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Expansion dürfte 1996 im Vergleich zu 1995 zurückgehen, da das Exportwachstum weiter nachlässt und die Kräfte zur Beschleunigung der Investitionstätigkeit erlahmen.

Abstract
Deutschland verpflichtete sich auf der Vertragsstaatenkonferenz zur Klima-Rahmen-Konvention im April 1995 in Berlin mit einem eigenen CO2-Reduktionsprogramm zur Verminderung des CO2-Ausstoßes um 25 bis 30 % bis 2005 gegenüber 1990. Dieses Ziel soll vor allem durch die Senkung des spezifischen Energieverbrauchs erreicht werden. Die dazu eingegangenen Selbstverpflichtungen der deutschen Wirtschaft lassen allerdings notwendige zusätzliche Anstrengungen vermissen und befürchten, dass das gesteckte Ziel verfehlt wird.
