As press officer, Rafael Barth is responsible for media relations as well as maintaining and creating concepts for social media since he joined the institute in 2018. Apart from that, he organises events.
Rafael Barth earned a diploma in journalism and history from University of Leipzig and Universidad Complutense Madrid. After a traineeship at Rheinische Post in Düsseldorf and gaining experiences at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, he then worked in the press office of Germany's largest documentary film festival in Leipzig and as an editor for Sächsische Zeitung.
For many years, Rafael Barth has been concentrating on developments in science and society. Prior to joining IWH, he was working freelance as journalist, copywriter, and lecturer at several universities.
