Sabine Freifrau von Schorlemer ist vom Aufsichtsrat des Leibniz-Instituts für Wirtschaftsforschung Halle (IWH) im Rahmen seiner Sitzung am 15.06.2017 zur neuen Vorsitzenden gewählt worden. Sie folgt auf Manfred Maas, der den Vorstandsrat und späteren Aufsichtsrat des Instituts seit 2003 über drei Amtszeiten hinweg geleitet hat.

A conference from young economists for young economists
Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg are hosting the 22nd Spring Meeting of Young Economists.
From today until Saturday, the Spring Meeting of Young Economists (SMYE) takes place in Halle (Saale). It is jointly organised by the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association and the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The international meeting is a well-known yearly conference organised by the European Association of Young Economists (EAYE). Its chairman, Stijn Baert, is impressed: “Judging from the organisation, the conference will just be great!”

New look and feel for IWH website
The relaunched website of the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association goes live today. After the successful launch of a new corporate design at the beginning of the year, IWH now presents itself also digitally in a new and adjusted way. The redesigned website focuses on IWH’s core issues and provides information tailored to each target group. Due to the responsive design, the new website can be perfectly read and navigated on smartphones and tablets as well.

International young researchers at IWH
Scientific insights do not stop at national borders and have to be equally accessible for women and men. “Whoever wants to do world-class research has to look beyond his own nose”, says Reint E. Gropp, president of the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association. He himself received his PhD and did research in the US for several years.
